Rs.20 lakh compensation sanctioned for border shelling victims

RAJOURI, June 10: Deputy Commissioner, Mohammad Nazir Sheikh on Wednesday chaired a District Level Coordination Cum Screening committee meeting to clear the compensation cases related to militancy and cross- border shelling. The meeting was attended by Assistant Commissioner Revenue, Mohammad Ashraf, Chief Medical Officer, Dr.Sanjeev Puri, Additional SP, Liyaqat Chowdhary, District Social Welfare Officer, Mohammad Naseeb and Tehsildar Manjakote/Nowshera,Qila Darhal. The Committee cleared 4 compensation cases including 3 deaths and 1 disability cases related to militancy and cross-border shelling. The DLCCSC, after thorough examination of all the cases, sanctioned cash compensation of Rs 20 lacs in favour of the next of kin of deceased persons and injured by militancy violence or during cross border LoC firing. The official said most of the cases were either pending for want of minor formalities or rejected earlier for non-fulfilment of codal formalities, which the officials processed as per decisions of previous DLCCSC.
