SRO-202 withdrawn due to united struggle of youth: Harsh Dev | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, Jun 16: Harsh Dev Singh, Chairman-JKNPP has said that while the withdrawal of SRO-202 was the outcome of united struggle launched by the youth and opposition, it was amazing to find some political leaders of ruling party trying to take credit for the said development. The affected youth and several opposition parties particularly the Panthers Party had been agitating on the roads in sun and rain for the last five years to seek the annulment of the said provision in the recruitment rules of 2015 enacted during BJP-PDP rule. Singh was addressing a press conference here and said that the ultimate withdrawal of the obnoxious provisions of SRO-202 is a common victory of J&K youth for which the Lt. Governor too deserved to be lauded. He said that NPP had held several dozens of protests during the past few years seeking withdrawal of anti youth policy of the government incorporated by virtue of SRO-202 of 2015. Even during lockdown period, the NPP had held several vociferous protests against the anti youth proviso and sought revocation of the said law before holding any further recruitment in the new UT, said Singh. “And while the local BJP leaders had all along been evading the issue and reaming tightlipped over the most serious matter afflicting the educated youth, they have abruptly become quite vocal since yesterday after the Lt. Governor’s announcement in a bid to claim credit. These loud mouthed dunderheads of the saffron brigade must realize that the educated youth are not as naïve as they believe and very well understood the duplicitous character of those who betrayed them time and again”, said Singh. Singh said that 50,000 posts were vacant in various government departments and besides the centre had announced creation of 50,000 additional posts for J&K thereby creating the scope for absorption of at least one lac youth in government jobs. He called for time bound filling up of all vacant posts so as to provide the much needed relief to the unemployed youth who had been made to wait for the past five years. He further sought re-instatement of all terminated employees of Health, Education and Information Department.
