Jammu BJP leader eats ‘humble pie’ after video of aborted interview goes viral
‘Party high command takes decisions without taking Jammu leaders on board’
6/17/2020 1:11:17 AM
Early Times Report

Jammu, June 16: A viral video on social networking sites has exposed the helplessness of Bhartiya Janta Party (BJP) leaders from Jammu region, who have been caught totally unaware on several occasions about the decisions of party high command.
The video in question is recorded by a news media portal in which a senior leader of BJP from Jammu, who was also Deputy Chief Minister during coalition government, is shown being interviewed.
The journalist interviewing the BJP leader posed a serious question about the revocation of SRO-202 and while replying it the BJP leader gave an often repeated reply that when their government would come, they would revoke the same.
But when the interviewer reminded the leader that it was their own party, which had brought the SRO-202 in government jobs, the BJP leader is seen signalling the interviewer to stop the interview. Though the interview was stopped but the video went viral over social networking sites in which the BJP leaders were openly criticized for double speak. Later in the evening, the LG led administration decided to do away with the SRO-202 for next recruitment while the probation period of five years was reduced to two years. The news about the decision was broken by none other than Union Minister Dr. Jitendra Singh and later the UT administration also updated the news.
“The attempt of BJP leader to stop the interview and a news break just a few hours later by Union Minister Dr Jitendra Singh, exposed the helplessness of Jammu BJP leaders, who are totally unaware about the prospective decisions of high command”, a politician said, adding that it appeared that BJP central leadership seem to have “no faith” in Jammu leaders.
Same helplessness of Jammu BJP leaders had come to fore, when the Ministry of Home Affairs had introduced the first draft of the new domicile law for Jammu and Kashmir. The J&K president of BJP had tried his best to justify the new domicile law and had congratulated the party high command for the law during several interviews. At one hand the Jammu BJP leader continued his attempts to justify the first draft of new domicile law, despite strong opposition from youth but on the other the party high command sensed the mood of Jammu youth and amended the law within 48 hours. At that time also, the Jammu BJP leader was caught totally unaware and even during the decision to amend SRO-202 BJP leader was caught unaware. Both the incidents have put a question mark over the credibility of the Jammu BJP leaders. “From these incidents it can be inferred that the Jammu based party leaders are not taken into confidence by the high command and there is big gap between Jammu based leadership and central leadership”, a local leader said.
