J&K govt reconsiders decision, Distt Admin Samba not ready to budge Conversion of ESIC Hospital to COVID centre 6/16/2020 11:52:12 PM Early Times Report JAMMU, June 16: First it took abrupt and unilateral decision in conversion of ESIC Model Hospital Bari Brahmana to COVID-19 care center by putting thousands of workers in grave situation without thinking about their plights and now despite the J&K Government’s intervention to rethink its decision, the District Administration Samba is not ready to budge an inch. Sources told Early Times that despite a strong resentment from workers of industrial and other private sector areas on the blatant and irrational move of the district Samba, various workers unions took up the matter with the Advisor to Lieutenant Governor Farooq Khan demanding to de-notify ESIC Model Hospital from COVID 19 hospital so that poor workers may get reprieve as they are not being treated ever since the district admin had occupied it to COVID-19 care center. They further said that the advisor was informed that the ESIC Hospital, which is specially designated for the poor workers, who can’t afford private medical treatment but with the occupying of hospital by local administration for treating COVID-19 patients, these marginalized section has debarred from this facility despite the fact that ESI Scheme is fully funded by the workers and employers contributions and not a single penny is contributed by the Govt. “Although strong criticism came from all quarters against the move of the concerned District Administration but it denied rethinking its illogical decision,” they said.   Share This News with Your Friends on Social Network     Comment on this Story
