JAMMU, June 24: The Deputy Commissioner, State taxes, Enforcement wing Jammu-Samba range under the instructions of Commissioner, State taxes, PK Bhat and under the supervision of Additional Commissioner, State Taxes (Administration and Enforcement), Rifat Kohli intercepted various vehicles carrying goods at Muradpur, Rajouri for physical verification, scrutiny of tax invoices and electronic way (e-way) bills. The Deputy Commissioner, state taxes, Enforcement wing Jammu-Samba range, Sanjay Gupta appealed the owners of brick kilns and stone crushers to ensure generation of proper tax invoices and apply for registration of GSTIN number if their turnover is exceeding Rs 40 lakhs per annum. The Deputy Commissioner detained the vehicles of M/s Shiv Brick kiln and M/s Rajouri crusher and also seized their record for scrutiny. “The State Taxes Department shall continue inspection of conveyances carrying goods towards Rajouri-Poonch without proper tax invoices, e-way bills etc with the intention to evade tax shall be penalized under section 129 of CGST Act, so as to ensure that the genuine traders who fulfill/ comply with all the GST rules are not hit by such malpractices” informed DC Samba. The dealers, whose vehicles carrying goods without proper documents were detained and imposed penalty to the tune of Rs 37820 after scrutiny of tax invoices and few cases are under scrutiny. It is pertinent to mention here that around 3650 e-way bills were verified during the month. The inspection team included State Taxes Officer, Enforcement wing Rajouri-Poonch range Ashiq Rafiq Malik, Inspector Vikas Sharma and other officials of the department.
