SRINAGAR, June 24: As a woman died due to Corona Virus in Kashmir today the death toll due to the COVID-19 in Jammu & Kashmir reached 88. At the same time, 186 fresh cases of the virus were reported from the union territory. Reports said that a middle aged woman of Baghat in Srinagar district passed away due to the COVID-19 in the early hours today. So far 88 persons have died due to the Corona Virus in Jammu & Kashmir. While 78 deaths have taken place in Kashmir division 10 such deaths have occurred in Jammu division. In the meantime, Baramulla reported 37 fresh cases of Corona Virus followed by Shopian 35 cases, Srinagar 29 cases, Kupwara 22 cases, Pulwama 19 cases, Anantnag and Rajouri eight cases each, Jammu seven cases, Samba four cases, Ganderbal and Udhampur three cases each, Kulgam, Bandipora, Kathua and Poonch two cases each and Budgam, Doda and Reasi one case each. The Jammu & Kashmir government through the media bulletin informed that 186 new positive cases of novel Corona Virus (COVID-19), 28 from Jammu division and 158 from Kashmir division, have been reported today thus taking the total number of positive cases in Jammu and Kashmir to 6,422. Also, one COVID-19 death has been reported from Kashmir division. Moreover, 176 more COVID-19 patients have recovered and discharged from various hospitals, 45 from Jammu Division and 131 from Kashmir Division. Out of 6,422 positive cases, 2,516 are active positive, 3,818 have recovered and 88 have died; 10 in Jammu division and 78 in Kashmir division. The bulletin said that out of 3, 26,430 test results available, 3, 20,008 samples have tested as negative till date. Additionally, till date 2, 65,652 travelers and persons in contact with suspected cases have been enlisted for surveillance which included 39,599 persons in home quarantine including facilities operated by government, 31 in hospital quarantine, 2,516 in hospital isolation and 47,660 under home surveillance. Besides, 1, 75,758 persons have completed their surveillance period. The bulletin said that Srinagar has 752 positive cases, 503 active positive, 228 recovered, 21 deaths; Kulgam has 711 positive cases, 211 active positive, 489 recoveries, 11 deaths; Shopian has 671 positive cases, 209 active positive, 452 recovered, 10 deaths; Baramulla has 670 positive cases, 322 active positive, 334 recovered, 14 deaths; Anantnag district has 622 positive cases, 173 active positive, 443 recovered, six deaths. “Kupwara has 482 positive cases, 133 active positive, 344 recovered, five deaths; Pulwama has 387 positive cases, 220 active positive, 163 recovered, four deaths; Budgam has 347 positive cases, 188 active positive, 153 recovered, six deaths; Bandipora has 280 positive cases, 44 active positive, 235 recovered, one death and Ganderbal has 76 positive cases, 17 active positive, 59 recoveries,” reads the bulletin. The bulletin said that Jammu has 318 positive cases, 71 active positive, 240 recoveries, seven deaths; Udhampur has 217 positive cases, 66 active positive, 150 recovered, one death; Ramban has 213 positive cases, 79 active positive, 134 recovered; Kathua has 203 positive cases, 86 active positive, 117 recovered; Samba has 132 positive cases, 72 active positive, 60 recovered. “Poonch has 118 positive cases, 31 active positive, 87 recovered; Rajouri has 91 positive cases, 53 active positive, 37 recovered, one death; Doda has 71 positive cases, 16 active positive, 54 recovered, one death; Reasi has 36 positive cases, 12 active positive, 24 recovered and Kishtwar has 25 positive cases, 10 active positive, 15 recovered,” reads the bulletin. Out of 6,422 positive cases, 2125 have been reported as travelers. The bulletin has informed the people that the best way to protect themselves from COVID-19 is by maintaining physical distance of at least 2 metres from others, frequently cleaning hands with an alcohol based hand sanitizer or washing them with soap and water and following good respiratory etiquette and hygiene. As a measure for social distancing in public places and workplaces wearing a face cover is compulsory. |
