SRINAGAR, July 24: For a change the number of recovered patients out-numbered fresh cases of Corona Virus in the union territory of Jammu & Kashmir. While 353 fresh cases of COVID-19 were reported today, 508 patients who recovered were discharged from hospitals. At the same time, 14 Corona Virus related deaths were reported in the past 24 hours in the union territory. With this the death toll due to Corona Virus in Jammu & Kashmir reached 296. Reports said that seven people died in Srinagar while as Baramulla and Anantnag districts reported two deaths each. One death each was reported from Jammu, Shopian and Pulwama districts respectively. Srinagar has the highest number of 82 deaths in the union territory. Reports said that Kulgam reported 83 fresh cases of COVID-19 followed by Shopian 59 cases, Jammu 45 cases, Srinagar 40 cases, Bandipora 36 cases, Kathua 29 cases, Ramban 24 cases, Samba 13 cases, Rajouri seven cases, Pulwama, Udhampur and Kishtwar four cases, Baramulla and Poonch two cases and Reasi one case. The Jammu & Kashmir government through the media bulletin informed that 353 new positive cases of novel Corona Virus (COVID-19), 129 from Jammu division and 224 from Kashmir division, have been reported today thus taking the total number of positive cases in Jammu and Kashmir to 16,782. Also 14 COVID-19 deaths have been reported; one from Jammu division and 13 from Kashmir Division. Moreover, 508 more COVID-19 patients have recovered and discharged from various hospitals, 35 from Jammu Division and 473 from Kashmir Division. Out of 16,782 positive cases, 7,269 are active positive, 9,217 have recovered and 296 have died; 21 in Jammu division and 275 in Kashmir division. Out of 5, 59,399 test results available, 5, 42,617 samples have tested negative till date. Additionally, till date 3, 47,939 travelers and persons in contact with suspected cases have been enlisted for observation which included 42,781 persons in home quarantine including facilities operated by government, 12 in hospital quarantine, 7,269 in hospital isolation and 40,919 under home surveillance. Besides, 2, 56,662 persons have completed their surveillance period. The bulletin said that Srinagar has 3,648 positive cases, 2,088 active positive, 1,478 recovered, 82 deaths; Baramulla has 1740 positive cases, 600 active positive, 1,078 recovered, 62 deaths; Kulgam has 1,437 positive cases, 506 active positive, 905 recovered, 26 deaths; Shopian has 1,352 positive cases, 446 active positive, 886 recovered, 20 deaths; Anantnag district has 1,131 positive cases, 389 active positive, 721 recovered, 21 deaths. “Pulwama has 1,132 positive cases, 545 active positive, 571 recovered, 16 deaths; Kupwara has 1008 positive cases, 385 active positive, 607 recovered, 16 deaths; Budgam has 984 positive cases, 447 active positive, 517 recovered, 20 deaths; Bandipora has 561 positive cases, 167 active positive, 387 recovered, seven deaths and Ganderbal has 309 positive cases, 163 active positive, 141 recovered, five deaths,” reads the bulletin. The bulletin said that Jammu has 757 positive cases, 272 active positive, 472 recovered, 13 deaths; Rajouri has 508 positive cases, 384 active positive, 122 recovered, two deaths; Ramban has 463 positive cases, 223 active positive, 240 recovered; Kathua has 433 positive cases, 145 active positive, 287 recovered, one death; Udhampur has 386 positive cases, 86 active positive, 299 recovered, one death. “Samba has 362 positive cases, 174 active positive, 187 recovered, one death; Doda has 210 positive cases, 99 active positive, 109 recovered, two deaths; Poonch has 166 positive cases, 34 active positive, 131 recovered, one death; Reasi has 99 positive cases, 54 active positive, 45 recovered and Kishtwar has 96 positive cases, 62 active positive, 34 recovered,” reads the bulletin. Out of 16,782 positive cases in J&K, 3744 have been reported as travelers. The bulletin has informed the people that, the best way to protect themselves from COVID-19 is by maintaining physical distance of at least 2 metres from others, frequently cleaning hands with an alcohol based hand sanitizer or washing them with soap and water and following good respiratory etiquette and hygiene. As a measure for social distancing in public places and workplaces wearing a face cover is compulsory. ENDS
