EARLY TIMES REPORT

SAMBA, July 24: The District Administration Samba seems to be in deep slumber as despite the fact that many COVID-19 positive cases were reported from Ward No 3, Vijaypur including two pregnant women but the area has not been sealed yet by the police.
The local residents of Ward No. 3 accused the District Administration Samba for taking this matter lightly as no prompt action was taken from the concerned Nodal Officer as well as the police for deployment of security forces and sealing the area with barbed wire, which shows the non-seriousness of the concerned agencies.
The residents also alleged that continuous delay in taking action by the concerned administration to take preventive measures after the cases have come into fore, the risk of spreading COVID-19 has been increasing among others.
“Few days ago two pregnant women from Ward No. 3 were found COVID-19 positives but administration didn’t take action as per SOPs and people continued to move from those areas and later on yesterday two more persons from one of family of pregnant women were declared positive of this deadly virus yet area was not sealed,” Ward member Rajan Sharma and ex- Councilor Bubbal Gupta alleged.
They alleged that despite the area was declared under containment by administration but no deployment of security forces was made and more shockingly, even the area was not cordoned off with barbed wire.
When Early Times contacted the SDPO Vijaypur, Love Karan Taneja in this connection, he said that they act according to the order and instructions of the concerned Nodal Officer, but they have not received any such instructions for condoning off and deployment of security forces.
Meanwhile, when Nodal Officer Tarsem Lal was contacted, he said that he along with the concerned SHO had visited the area and he had instructed the SHO to cordon off the area.
Although when the Nodal Officer called the SHO regarding this issue, he was informed that they could not seal the area due to shortage of barbed wire.
