Jammu, July 24: A meeting of all Principals of Colleges was conducted in Civil Secretariat, Jammu and was chaired by Commissioner/Secretary to Govt., Higher Education Department Talat Parvez Rohella.
In the meeting, the Commissioner Secretary announced adoption of MANODARPAN initiative (under MHRD –Govt. of India) to cater psychological health and wellness of the students, parents and the stakeholders fo better management of stress during ongoing COVID-19 pandemic and beyond.
He further stressed upon the fact that noticeable amount of stress has always been observed among the youth pertaining to employability after passing out from colleges in reference to Higher Education in J&K.
Necessary directions have been issued for strengthening the Career Counseling and Placement Cells established in all the Colleges in the District level in both provinces to boost systemic reforms under the AtmaNirbhar Bharat Abhiyan programme of Govt. of India.
A special task force has been formed to execute the smooth functioning of MANODARPAN –Psychological cum Career Counseling and Placement Cells. Special committees have been formulated at Provincial, Regional and Executive level to extend full cooperation to the stakeholders regarding MANODARPAN INITIATIVE. Liaison is established with experts in various segments of society Department of Psychiatry, GMC, Jammu, Psychology Department, Jammu University, Police Department, Legal Aids Department, NEWS Bureau, Child Welfare Committee, Jammu, Clinical Psychologist from Other states, and Expert Senior Consultant Psychiatrist working with MHRD-Gov. of India, Dr. Jitender Nagpal to gather insight about the nature of problems faced by the youth as observed by them and get able guidance and directions required in the respective field.
Necessary guidelines have been issued to provide training provisions (Awareness and trainings though various webinars and online workshops, debates, poster making and conferences etc through expert resource persons.) to students. It was further stressed to establish and strengthen Industry, Academia and Alumni relation by setting up of placement cells in degree colleges.
Further, for smooth functioning of this whole initiative, Director Colleges will monitor and verify feedback received from the committees working in all the levels. In the meeting, high level of discussion and suggestions were received from the Principals of various colleges which were appreciated and acknowledged for inclusion. Commissioner Secretary extended good wishes to one and all to make the endeavor a great success.
