BJP exploits religious sentiments of people: Manohar | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT
KATHUA, July 26: Lambasting BJP government for hurting religious sentiments of the people by cancelling Amaranth yatra consecutively for the second year in a row, president District Congress Committee (DCC) Kathua and former minister Dr Manohar Lal Sharma said even during peak militancy in J&K Amaranth yatra was never stopped. Manohar said this while attending religious and social functions during a day-long tour of different villages of Billawar Assembly constituency including Dhamal, Dhanni, Garnari, Paiya, Banuchak Dhalli, Lower and Upper Mela. Manohar said that the previous governments facilitated the Amarnath yatra by proving all possible help but present BJP government instead of facilitating the pilgrimage went on to suspend it. He said annual yatras of Shri Amaranth, Machail Mata, Budda Amarnath, Sukrala Devi should have been continued after following proper procedures and precautions as per Ministry of Health and WHO due to present pandemic. Meanwhile, during the public meetings people of different villages raised different issues including long power cuts and drinking water shortage in their areas. People also complained about price rise of essential commodities during present era. While speaking, Dr Sharma said that present BJP regime in the country is anti-people and anti-poor. He said BJP has always indulged in doing politics over religion thus deviate the attention of masses from the burning issues of the country. He said instead working for the people BJP leadership work for own party and recent toppling of governments in MP and trying now in Rajasthan by causing defections is murder of democracy and betrayal with electoral process of country.
