Who is MD J&K Handloom and Handicrafts Corporation? | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT
JAMMU, July 26: Four months have passed since Lieutenant Governor G C Murmu-led administration approved merging of Jammu Kashmir Handloom Development Corporation (JKHDC) and Jammu and Kashmir Handicrafts Corporation Limited (JKHC), uncertainty Continues that who is Managing Director Jammu & Kashmir Handloom and Handicrafts Corporation. In March this year, the administration approved merging of Kashmir Handloom Development Corporation (JKHDC) and Jammu and Kashmir Handicrafts Corporation Limited (JKHC) and named it Jammu & Kashmir Handloom and Handicrafts Corporation. On June 8, the government appointed Hashmat Ali Yatoo, as Managing Director Jammu & Kashmir Handloom and Handicrafts Corporation. Surprisingly, Advisor to the Lt Governor, KK Sharma on Thursday held a meeting where he directed for making the Jammu and Kashmir Handloom Development Corporation (JKHDC) and Jammu and Kashmir Handicrafts Corporation Limited (JKHC) more vibrant and financially viable. “Commissioner Secretary Industries & Commerce, M K Dwivedi; Director General Planning, Sahibzada Bilal, Special secretary Finance, Shamim Ahmed Director Handicrafts & Handlooms Kashmir, Masarat ul Islam; Managing Director J&K Handicrafts Development Corporation, Hashmat Yatoo; MD JKHDC, Rakesh Sharma and others participated in the meeting through Video conferencing,” a government press statement reads. This is in contrast to the order issued on June 8, where Hashmat Yatoo was appointed Managing Director Jammu & Kashmir Handloom and Handicrafts Corporation. “There is confusion whether Jammu Kashmir Handloom Development Corporation (JKHDC) and Jammu and Kashmir Handicrafts Corporation Limited (JKHC) have been merged. If yes then why Hashmat Yatoo is still Managing Director Jammu Kashmir Handloom Development Corporation and not Managing Director Jammu & Kashmir Handloom and Handicrafts Corporation,” an official told Early Times. Similarly, the official said the government is yet to decide over the new posting of Rakesh Sharma. “If Jammu Kashmir Handicrafts Corporation Limited (JKHC) has been merged with Jammu Kashmir Handloom Development Corporation then why has Sharma not been given other posting? There is a lot of confusion. Government should clear the things at the earliest,” the official said. In Thursday's meeting, the Advisor directed that bottlenecks, if any, impede their smooth functioning needs to be resolved by technological interventions and scientific methods. He said better marketing of the traditional handmade handicrafts of Jammu and Kashmir is fundamental in making these real income generating ventures. While discussing the issues related to the merger, the Advisor directed for following a smooth procedure which would prove beneficial for both the Corporations with regard to the better management of human resources, upkeep of the assets and their viability, and also effective settlement of pending liabilities. |
