SRINAGAR, July 26: The union territory of Jammu & Kashmir is one of the few states/union territories in the country where the recovery rate of COVID-19 patients is less than the national average. In Jammu & Kashmir the recovery rate of Corona Virus patients is 55 percent while as the national average is around 63 percent.
Meanwhile, the death toll due to COVID-19 in Jammu & Kashmir reached 312 as seven more people died due to virus in the past 24 hours. The union territory continues to witness a spike in Corona Virus cases as 615 fresh cases came to the fore today. So far 17,920 people have been affected by virus in Jammu & Kashmir.
Reports said that Srinagar reported two fresh deaths followed by a death each in Jammu, Kupwara, Pulwama, Budgam and Bandipora districts. So far 289 COVID-19 patients have died in Kashmir while as 23 such deaths have taken place in Jammu division. Srinagar tops the list in this regard with 88 deaths with Ramban, Reasi and Kishtwar reporting no death so far.
Srinagar reported 209 new cases of Corona Virus followed by Budgam 88 cases, Bandipora 41 cases, Jammu 37 cases, Rajouri 33 cases, Ganderbal 31 cases, Shopian 27 cases, Anantnag and Pulwama 25 cases each, Kupwara 17 cases, Ramban 15 cases, Baramulla, Doda and Poonch 14 cases each, Samba 10 cases, Udhampur six cases, Kathua five cases and Kulgam & Reasi two cases each.
The Jammu & Kashmir government through the media bulletin informed that 615 new positive cases of novel Corona Virus (COVID-19), 136 from Jammu division and 479 from Kashmir division, have been reported today thus taking the total number of positive cases in Jammu and Kashmir to 17,920. Also seven COVID-19 deaths have been reported; one from Jammu division and six from Kashmir Division.
Moreover, 411 more COVID-19 patients have recovered and discharged from various hospitals, 41 from Jammu Division and 370 from Kashmir Division. Out of 17,920 positive cases, 7,680 are active positive, 9,928 have recovered and 312 have died; 23 in Jammu division and 289 in Kashmir division. Out of 5, 81,707 test results available, 5, 63,787 samples have tested negative till date.
Additionally, till date 3, 54,869 travelers and persons in contact with suspected cases have been enlisted for observation which included 44,429 persons in home quarantine including facilities operated by government, 12 in hospital quarantine, 7,680 in hospital isolation and 40,180 under home surveillance. Besides, 2, 62,256 persons have completed their surveillance period.
The bulletin said that Srinagar has 4,002 positive cases, 2,331 active positive, 1,583 recovered, 88 deaths; Baramulla has 1,772 positive cases, 545 active positive, 1,164 recovered, 63 deaths; Kulgam has 1,445 positive cases, 447 active positive, 972 recovered, 26 deaths; Shopian has 1,390 positive cases, 473 active positive, 897 recovered, 20 deaths; Pulwama has 1219 positive cases, 592 active positive, 610 recovered, 17 deaths.
“Anantnag district has 1176 positive cases, 353 active positive, 802 recovered, 21 deaths; Budgam has 1128 positive cases, 495 active positive, 611 recovered, 22 deaths; Kupwara has 1035 positive cases, 344 active positive, 674 recovered, 17 deaths; Bandipora has 632 positive cases, 213 active positive, 410 recovered, nine deaths and Ganderbal has 349 positive cases, 146 active positive, 197 recovered, six deaths,” reads the bulletin.
The bulletin said that Jammu has 860 positive cases, 359 active positive, 486 recovered, 15 deaths; Rajouri has 557 positive cases, 432 active positive, 123 recovered, two deaths; Ramban has 487 positive cases, 238 active positive, 249 recovered; Kathua has 465 positive cases, 162 active positive, 302 recovered, one death; Udhampur has 394 positive cases, 94 active positive, 299 recovered, one death.
“Samba has 374 positive cases, 171 active positive, 202 recovered, one death; Doda has 242 positive cases, 122 active positive, 118 recovered, two deaths; Poonch has 184 positive cases, 46 active positive, 137 recovered, one death; Kishtwar has 106 positive cases, 69 active positive, 37 recovered and Reasi has 103 positive cases, 48 active positive, 55 recovered,” reads the bulletin. Out of 17,920 positive cases in J&K, 3,977 have been reported as travelers.
The bulletin has informed the people that, the best way to protect themselves from COVID-19 is by maintaining physical distance of at least 2 metres from others, frequently cleaning hands with an alcohol based hand sanitizer or washing them with soap and water and following good respiratory etiquette and hygiene. As a measure for social distancing in public places and workplaces wearing a face cover is compulsory.
