Canada’s rejection of SFJ’s ‘Referendum 2020’ welcome step: Grewal | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT
KATHUA, July 26: BJP leader Sukhminderpal Singh Grewal today welcomed Canada’s decision to not recognize the results of the ‘Referendum 2020’ which is organized by Pro-Khalistan group, “Sikhs for Justice” (SFJ). Grewal also hoped that the other countries would follow Canada’s example and reject the secessionist ‘Referendum 2020’, which the SFJ was promoting to divide India on communal lines. Talking with the media persons here today, National Secretary BJP Kisan Morcha and Prabhari Jammu and Kashmir (UT) Sukhminderpal Singh Grewal while, quoting a spokesperson, of the Foreign Minister of Canada, which said: “Canada respects the sovereignty, unity and territorial integrity of India, and the Government of Canada will not recognize the referendum”. Grewal also welcomed the categorical stand taken by the Justin Trudeau government on this issue and termed it exemplary. He hopes other nations and governments should come out, and be against SFJ as well, which has been banned by India as a terrorist organization. Grewal said that failing to oppose the separatist SFJ organization could set a dangerous precedent for any country; this could be seen as covert support to an organization that would freely be propagating secessionist activities. He said that this was in the interest of global peace and security to reject forces that are hell bent on spreading terror. Grewal appreciated and also thanked the Sikh Community in Punjab for categorically rejecting SFJ’s pro-Khalistan movement, which the outfit was spreading at the behest of Pakistan’s ISI.
