Young Lawyers appeal LG to transfer registration of revenue documents to judiciary | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, July 26: Young Lawyers have appealed the Lieutenant Governor GC Murmu to revisit the decision of shifting power of registration of revenue documents and transfer the same to judiciary rather than bureaucracy. In a letter forwarded to LG, the Young Lawyers of Jammu have said that after the abrogation of Article 370, the government had also shifted the power of registration of revenue documents to bureaucracy, which was earlier in the hands of courts. “The Revenue officers have been entrusted with registration work of revenue documents which has increased the corruption manifolds while common people as well as young lawyers have been cursing the decision of government”, a letter forwarded to LG reads, adding that the decision to snatching away registration power from judiciary is being termed as anti-public, anti-lawyers and anti-government as government was also loosing huge revenue in the form of stamp duty and registration fee. “Please relook into this burning issue and take the rein of this system in your hands consider the merit s of this letter and pass appropriate order by restoration of power of registration to judicial officer for public good”, the letter reads.
