Jammu, July 26: Director Horticulture Jammu, Ram Sevak today took stock of developmental activities including high density plantation of apple, production of grafted walnut plants and other activities in district Poonch to meet the requirements of growers in the field. In this regard, necessary instructions were passed on to the officers concerned to cover more orchardists under high density plantation programme so as to ensure doubling their income by way of making all efforts in the field of horticulture. The director, during his day long tour, paid a visit to fruit plant nurseries Ajote, Mandi and Poonch to take stock of various activities undertaken in the nurseries and emphasised on the propagation of quality planting material and introduction of new high yielding varieties of different cultivars in the departmental nurseries. Later on the orchardists of the area also met with director and discussions were held for implementation of important schemes of the department like CAPEX, MIDH, PMKSY and ultra high density plantation of apple. During the visit, the director was accompanied by CHO Poonch, CHO Jammu and HDO’s of distt Poonch.
