Unlock-III raises hopes
7/30/2020 12:27:24 AM

Finally the Government of India (GoI) has decided to ease the restrictions further by announcing Unlock-III. Gymnasiums have been thrown open but metro rail operations, cinema halls, swimming polls, entertainment parks, theatres, bars, auditoriums and other places which involve large gatherings, would continue to remain shut.
Till now the country has recorded more than 15 lakh COVID-19 cases and the number is increasing but there is a silver lining also that the recovery rate has improved and situation is not looking that grim. There is no doubt about the fact that the number of COVID cases are increasing with each passing day and the COVID curve has not flattened yet but life is moving on and people are slowly learning to live with it.
People have to realize that authorities’ unlocking the country doesn’t mean that the COVID has gone. It’s very much here and it’s spreading rapidly. The restrictions being eased further means that authorities are hopeful that a cure is on the way and the situation will improve in the coming days. Easing of restrictions means that movement of people will increase. The virus will also start moving at a faster pace now. So the only way to keep the virus at bay is to take precautions and follow the COVID guidelines. We have to maintain social distancing, wear masks and take care of our hand hygiene.
During the past six months besides killing the humans, COVID has taken a heavy toll on the economy. Almost all the sectors have been hit as the virus, which emanated from China hasn’t spared anyone. Life has been difficult for everyone. But now the hopes are rising and it seems that dark clouds will disappear soon.
The student community has been worst hit as the educational institutions have remained closed and will continue to remain shut till August 31. It appears that schools and colleges will reopen only after the vaccine comes into the market as the vaccine will act as a shield. Till proper cure is not found, parents won’t put the lives of their children at stake, it goes without saying.
Fingers are crossed but the hope is very much alive. We the humans survive on hope and are eagerly waiting for the new dawn to breakout. The COVID positive patients and their kith and kin have been the worst sufferers but their resilience has pushed the virus to the brink.
