Blue eyed daily wagers in Jal Shakti (PHE) Deptt Poonch calling shots
Working in clerical sections, sitting on one place over decade

RAJESH TANDON
EARLY TIMES REPORT

POONCH, July 28: Few blue eyed daily wagers in Jal Shakti (PHE) Department Poonch have allegedly been calling the shots and running a nexus of corruption in the office. Although they were engaged as electricians as daily wagers and had to discharge their duties in the field, on the contrary they are sitting in the office and working as clerks under the patronage of their bosses.
Sources in the Department told Early Times that these daily wagers have dominated the entire office and nobody can get their work done without their approval. They are so powerful that other staff in the office cannot move without their permission and even the Junior Engineers also feel helpless before them.
“It is shocking that daily wagers are mainly deployed at water supply stations to ensure timely water supply to the public but here on the contrary, they have been enjoying an office job that too with the blessing of their senior officers of the department and not only this even they have been sitting at one place for the last 10-12 years and running a well knit nexus of corruption,” they said.
If sources are to be believed the payment bills are made by them particularly at the end of financial year in the month of March, all bills are made in their house under the instruction of their bosses. Even Junior Engineers have no say in the office and had to request these daily wagers to get their work done. As far as the working of the department is concerned, the people have strong complaints against the department about supply of contaminated water. There are already some complaints pending with an investigation agency about mismanagement of the department, which are likely to start soon after COVID-19 pandemic.
When Early Times contacted Executive Engineer Jal Shakti (PHE) Poonch, he said that they have been deployed in office due to shortage of staff.
