JAMMU, Aug 16: Continuing with its unique people-centric programmes during COVID-19, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) today organized the innovative and out of the box “Ek Ped Ek Tiranga” programme in Jammu. During the programme, BJP J&K Executive Member, Raman Suri, along with volunteers Twinkle Gupta, Pawan Sharma, Atul Gupta and several others planted the medicinal saplings of Chandan, Imli, Amla, Bil Patri, Parijat, Kadi Patta, Gulmohar, Neem, Jamun and Sukh-Chain in different locations of Jammu, along with which, they also unfurled the Tricolour to mark the 74th Independence Day of India. Raman Suri planted tree saplings and appointed volunteers who would take care of each sapling in their respective area and nurture it. One of the volunteer, Utkarsh Suri, who besides ensuring the quality of saplings to be planted, also kept a keen check on taking all safety precautions properly. The programme started with a Pooja performed by Pujari Anil Sharma and Pandit Om Parkash Sharma. Thereby, starting from planting Neem sapling at Temple premises of Pracheen Shiv Mandir Ranvir Nath ji Satwari, Amla tree sapling was planted at Gurudwara Maharani Chand Kaur, followed by one Sukh-Chain tree sapling at Dogra Shaurya Smarak Ambphalla, a Sukh-Chain tree sapling and Imli sapling at Atal ji Chowk Panjtirthi and Sukh-Chain sapling in the area near Fourth Tawi Bridge, which had no tree at all. Apart from these, Bil Patri tree sapling was planted near Shiv Mandir BC Road, Jamun tree at Rotary BC Road Chowk, Chandan Tree at Purani Mandi Park near Ram Mandir, Parijat & Kadi Patta at Peerkho Temple Park and Gulmohar tree sapling, which has a property of turning red when grown, at Shahidi Chowk. Raman Suri, during this unique drive of planting tree saplings having medicinal values, said that these saplings have been planted to make Jammu breathe in a healthy and clean air besides wearing an aesthetic look. |
