Sinha was aware of his LG assignment week ahead of oath taking | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, Aug 16: Even as many look at Manoj Sinha succeeding GC Murmu as the Lieutenant Governor of Jammu and Kashmir as an overnight development, the successor was aware of the move for around a week. Sources said Prime Minister Narendar Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah had been in touch with Sinha for quite sometime and that finally around a week ahead of the August 5 development, he was called to New Delhi. Sources said Sinha had detailed interaction with the government top brass including the Prime Minister about Jammu and Kashmir and what the new plans could be all about to bring in an era of peace and prosperity in the region. Sources said Sinha was told that it was a confidential development and that he should remain silent on it till the decision is formally announced. Sources said Sinha after meeting Prime Minister Narendra Modi remained stationed mostly in the national capital to wait for the moment when he would be asked to take the charge of the Union Territory. Sources said Sinha has been so upright towards work, that he had not shared about New Delhi’s decision even with his nears and dears. “He had been silently camping in New Delhi after he was apprised about Modi Ji’s new plan,” said a senior BJP leader on the condition of anonymity. Sources said Sinha is seen among the “most big-hearted politicians” who doesn’t speak much to be in news. “He(Sinha) was never media savvy nor looked for any publicity. He believes in working with dedication and honesty and that is something what makes him different,” said the BJP leader. It is pertinent to mention that Sinha was among the probable faces for the chair of Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister in 2017 but that finally Yogi Aditya Nath was chosen following a last moment change in the plan. Sinha is known for his vast experience in politics and has also remained a minister in the union government in the past. In 2019, he was all set to be a Cabinet minister in Modi government but that he lost the elections from UP. |
