JAMMU, Aug 16: A deputation of Birpur Industrialists called on former Deputy Chief Minister, J&K, Kavinder Gupta, in presence of Vinay Kumar Gupta, BJP District President Jammu and apprised him about the long pending demands and problems being faced by the units of Birpur Industrial area. The deputation comprising of Jatin Sachdeva, Anil Gupta, Subhash Datta and Deepak Dhawan submitted a charter of demands in the form of memorandum and discussed the issue regarding problem of electricity and informed that Birpur Industrial Area is supplied electricity from domestic feeder, instead of Industrial feeder, while Bari Brahmana, Gangyal, Samba and other industrial areas are supplied electricity from Industrial feeders. They said that during power failure, Birpur Industrial area suffers a lot and labour sits idle for long time due to which Industrial area suffer huge losses. The former Deputy Chief Minister gave a patient hearing to the demands put forth by the deputation and assured them he will take up this matter with concerned department for taking appropriate steps. He also talked to the concerned Chief Engineers telephonically and informed him about the problems of the Industrial Area and stressed on solving the same at an earliest. Kavinder Gupta shared with the deputation that Prime Minister Narendra Modi's Government is working on incentives to promote industrial development in Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir. He also said that the proposed global investment summit in Jammu and Kashmir would be held soon once the COVID-19 pandemic is brought under control, adding that government is in the final stages of designing an ambitious industrial promotion policy 2020. "J&K is currently ranked number one among the UTs on implementation of reforms. Urban infrastructure, mobility, and communication networks are being upgraded to provide a conducive environment," he said. He said Jammu and Kashmir is a global tourist destination and is famous for recreational tourism, which is the second largest after the agriculture sector in the region and around 30 per cent population is directly or indirectly linked to this sector. |
