EARLY TIMES REPORT
KATHUA, Aug 25: A workshop on “Virtual Labs” was organized by Virtual Lab Nodal Centre (VLNC), Govt Degree College Kathua in association with IIT Bombay and under the chief patronship of Talat Parvez Rohella, Commissioner/Secretary, Higher Education Department, J&K UT and patronship of Principal, Prof Asha Ram Sharma. 65 students and 70 faculty members including Dy Secretary, Higher Education Department, Vikas Dhar, registered for the event through virtual mode. The workshop was inaugurated by Prof Asha Ram Sharma, Principal, Govt. Degree College Kathua. He expressed gratitude to Commissioner/Secretary Higher Education Department, Talat Parvez Rohella and Director Colleges Higher Education Department, Prof Yaseen Ahmad Shah for their visionary farsighted approach and continuous motivation in establishing Nodal Centres in different degree colleges of J&K UT. Dr Pankaj Gupta, Nodal Coordinator, VLNC in his introductory talk gave a detail of various features, objectives and advantages of Virtual Lab which is a mission project developed under the aegis of National Mission on Education through ICT, MHRD. The technical sessions which included demonstrations and hands on session of simulation based experiments were conducted by Dr Pankaj Gupta, Assistant Professor in Chemistry and Dr. Surya Partap Singh, Assistant Professor in Zoology.
