Amid Covid-19 pandemic, Omar Abdullah cracks jokes online
8/26/2020 12:44:23 AM

Early Times Report

Jammu, Aug 25: Even as the world is struggling to fight Covid-19 and around a dozen persons die of the deadly disease in Jammu and Kashmir on daily basis, former Chief Minister Omar Abdullah has been spending time cracking jokes on the social media.
Omar who didn’t find time to pay homage to brave-hearts, who laid down their lives fighting terrorists in Kashmir in the recent past, cracked a joke on drainage in Gurugram.
“Can’t visit Venice these days. Booking a trip to Gurgaon now,” the former CM tweeted drawing flak from netizens. While the three generations of the Abdullahs couldn’t improve drainage in Jammu and Kashmir, Omar finds time to ridicule at neighboring states. It is pertinent to mention that Omar didn’t even extend the Independence Day greetings this year.
But then he is busy with jokes.
Very recently, in yet another Tweet he had cracked joke about a fiction character Binod.
Many of the members of the Abdullah family were seen sharing the joke on the social media.
This has been the behavior of Omar Abdullah at a time when dozens are falling prey to Covid19 and militant attacks have been on rise.
Within a week, over half a dozen security force personnel laid down their lives in Kashmir and Omar wants to entertain his followers instead of paying homage to the brave hearts. It is pertinent to mention that he has close to three million followers on Twitter.
A senior political analyst said the behavior of Omar Abdullah on social media shows his “immaturity and insensitivity.”
“He can’t greet the nation on Independence Day and doesn’t utter a word of homage for the brave-hearts, he has actually shown his true colors through such ridiculous posts,” said the political analyst. Despite repeated attempts, the former CM was not available for comments.
