SRINAGAR, Aug 25: The number of Corona Virus positive cases in Jammu & Kashmir reached 33,776 as 701 fresh cases of virus were reported today. The death toll due to virus reached 638 as 14 more people died in the past 24 hours. Srinagar reported 208 fresh cases of COVID-19 followed by Jammu 76 cases, Bandipora 66 cases, Pulwama 56 cases, Kupwara 55 cases, Budgam 49 cases, Anantnag 44 cases, Ganderbal 31 cases, Baramulla 29 cases, Kulgam 18 cases, Samba 13 cases, Poonch 12 cases, Kathua 11 cases, Rajouri nine cases, Shopian, Udhampur and Ramban six cases each, Doda three cases, Reasi two cases and Kishtwar one case. Srinagar reported three fresh Corona Virus deaths followed by two deaths each in Jammu, Pulwama, Kupwara and Ganderbal districts and a death each in Budgam, Kathua and Anantnag districts. So far 588 COVID-19 deaths have taken place in Kashmir valley with the number of casualties being 50 in Jammu division. The Jammu & Kashmir administration through the media bulletin informed that 701 new positive cases of novel Corona Virus (COVID-19), 139 from Jammu division and 562 from Kashmir division, have been reported today thus taking the total number of positive cases in Jammu and Kashmir to 33,776. Also 14 COVID-19 deaths have been reported; three from Jammu division and 11 from Kashmir Division. Moreover, 389 more COVID-19 patients have recovered and discharged from various hospitals, 79 from Jammu Division and 310 from Kashmir Division. Out of 33,776 positive cases, 7,544 are active positive, 25,594 have recovered and 638 have died; 50 in Jammu division and 588 in Kashmir division. Out of 8, 88,127 test results available, 8, 54,351 samples have tested negative till date. Till date 4, 37,664 travelers and persons in contact with suspected cases have been enlisted for observation which included 43,416 persons in home quarantine including facilities operated by government, 7,544 in isolation and 41,030 under home surveillance. Besides, 3, 45,036 persons have completed their surveillance period. The bulletin said that Srinagar has 8,357 positive cases, 1,454 active positive, 6,703 recovered, 200 deaths; Baramulla has 2,678 positive cases, 574 active positive, 2,006 recovered, 98 deaths; Pulwama has 2,386 positive cases, 457 active positive, 1883 recovered, 46 deaths; Budgam has 2207 positive cases, 566 active positive, 1587 recovered, 54 deaths; Anantnag has 2,146 positive cases, 470 active positive, 1,630 recovered, 46 deaths. “Bandipora has 1952 positive cases, 898 active positive, 1030 recovered, 24 deaths; Kupwara has 1894 positive cases, 604 active positive, 1,246 recovered, 44 deaths; Kulgam has 1868 positive cases, 266 active positive, 1,571 recovered, 31 deaths; Shopian has 1,637 positive cases, 91 active positive, 1,519 recovered, 27 deaths and Ganderbal has 1,238 positive cases, 577 active positive, 643 recovered, 18 deaths,” reads the bulletin. The bulletin said that Jammu has 2,463 positive cases, 697 active positive, 1732 recovered, 34 deaths; Rajouri has 841 positive cases, 85 active positive, 753 recovered, three deaths; Kathua has 755 positive cases, 126 active positive, 627 recovered, two deaths; Udhampur has 737 positive cases, 110 active positive, 625 recovered, two deaths; Samba has 659 positive cases, 210 active positive, 447 recovered, two deaths. “Ramban has 648 positive cases, 27 active positive, 620 recovered, one death; Doda has 377 positive cases, 58 active positive, 317 recovered, two deaths; Poonch has 376 positive cases, 69 active positive, 304 recovered, three deaths; Reasi has 360 positive cases, 187 active positive, 173 recovered and Kishtwar has 197 positive cases, 18 active positive, 178 recovered, one death,” reads the bulletin. Out of 33,776 positive cases, 6,075 have been reported as travelers. The bulletin has informed the people that, the best way to protect themselves from COVID-19 is by maintaining physical distance of at least 2 meters from others, frequently cleaning hands with an alcohol based hand sanitizer or washing them with soap and water and following good respiratory etiquette and hygiene. As a measure for social distancing in public places and workplaces wearing a face cover is compulsory. |
