Several roads closed, macadamisation suspended in Bandipora due to rain | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT
Srinagar, Aug 27: Several important roads, including Bandipora to border town of Gurez and Dawar-Tulail, have been closed for any traffic and pedestrian movement on Wednesday to avoid any accident following heavy rainfall during the past 24 hours. An official spokesman said that Deputy Commissioner (DC), Bandipora, in north Kashmir Dr Owais Ahmad has ordered closure of road between Bandipora to border town of Gurez. The DC has also further ordered closure of road between border area of Dawar to Tulail due to heavy rainfall. Dr Owais said that keeping in view of heavy rainfall and to avoid any accident, all types of vehicles and public movement are restricted on Dawar-Bandipora road and Dawar-Tulail road. However, closure of these roads has also affected dozens of far flung and remote villages, including those near the Line of Control (LoC). These roads also remained closed for about six months due to heavy snowfall, including at Razdan pass, where 10 feet to 15 feet of snowfall is recorded during winter. Meanwhile, macadamisation started on Bandipora to Gurez road has been affected due to heavy rain and drop in the temperature. However, macadamisation will be resumed when the weather and temperature improves.
