SRINAGAR, Aug 27: The death toll due to COVID-19 in Jammu & Kashmir reached 671 as 14 more people died today even if 655 fresh cases of the virus were reported in the union territory in the past 24 hours. Srinagar district reported five fresh Corona Virus deaths followed by two deaths each in Budgam and Kulgam districts. A death each was reported from Jammu, Pulwama, Anantnag, Rajouri and Kathua districts. So far 614 COVID-19 deaths have taken place in Kashmir valley with the number of deaths in Jammu being 57. Srinagar district reported 182 fresh cases of Corona Virus followed by Jammu 87 cases, Budgam 60 cases, Bandipora 51 cases, Kupwara 46 cases, Pulwama 42 cases, Baramulla 33 cases, Anantnag 27 cases, Ganderbal and Kathua 25 cases each, Shopian 23 cases, Samba 11 cases, Doda 10 cases, Kulgam and Udhampur eight cases each, Rajouri seven cases, Poonch five cases, Kishtwar three cases and Reasi two cases. The Jammu & Kashmir administration through the media bulletin informed that 655 new positive cases of novel Corona Virus (COVID-19), 158 from Jammu division and 497 from Kashmir division, have been reported today thus taking the total number of positive cases in Jammu and Kashmir to 35,135. Also 14 COVID-19 deaths have been reported; three from Jammu division and 11 from Kashmir Division. Moreover, 528 more COVID-19 patients have recovered and discharged from various hospitals, 89 from Jammu Division and 439 from Kashmir Division. Out of 35,135 positive cases, 7,743 are active positive, 26,721 have recovered and 671 have died; 57 in Jammu division and 614 in Kashmir division. Out of 9, 15,226 test results available, 8, 80,091 samples have tested negative till date. Till date 4, 48,697 travelers and persons in contact with suspected cases have been enlisted for observation which included 44,537 persons in home quarantine including facilities operated by government, 7,743 in isolation and 43,728 under home surveillance. Besides, 3, 52,018 persons have completed their surveillance period. The bulletin said that Srinagar has 8,735 positive cases, 1,626 active positive, 6,896 recovered, 213 deaths; Baramulla has 2,727 positive cases, 547 active positive, 2,081 recovered, 99 deaths; Pulwama has 2,484 positive cases, 470 active positive, 1,966 recovered, 48 deaths; Budgam has 2,331 positive cases, 626 active positive, 1648 recovered, 57 deaths; Anantnag has 2,220 positive cases, 500 active positive, 1,672 recovered, 48 deaths. “Bandipora has 2,025 positive cases, 719 active positive, 1,282 recovered, 24 deaths; Kupwara has 1,989 positive cases, 619 active positive, 1,325 recovered, 45 deaths; Kulgam has 1,885 positive cases, 220 active positive, 1,632 recovered, 33 deaths; Shopian has 1,669 positive cases, 121 active positive, 1,520 recovered, 28 deaths and Ganderbal has 1,304 positive cases, 577 active positive, 708 recovered, 19 deaths,” reads the bulletin. The bulletin said that Jammu has 2,648 positive cases, 786 active positive, 1,824 recovered, 38 deaths; Rajouri has 865 positive cases, 100 active positive, 760 recovered, five deaths; Kathua has 807 positive cases, 162 active positive, 642 recovered, three deaths; Udhampur has 760 positive cases, 123 active positive, 635 recovered, two deaths; Samba has 682 positive cases, 191 active positive, 489 recovered, two deaths. “Ramban has 651 positive cases, 23 active positive, 627 recovered, one death; Doda has 394 positive cases, 59 active positive, 333 recovered, two deaths; Poonch has 388 positive cases, 70 active positive, 315 recovered, three deaths; Reasi has 362 positive cases, 180 active positive, 182 recovered and Kishtwar has 209 positive cases, 24 active positive, 184 recovered, one death,” reads the bulletin. Out of 35,135 positive cases in J&K, 6242 have been reported as travelers. The bulletin has informed the people that, the best way to protect themselves from COVID-19 is by maintaining physical distance of at least 2 meters from others, frequently cleaning hands with an alcohol based hand sanitizer or washing them with soap and water and following good respiratory etiquette and hygiene. As a measure for social distancing in public places and workplaces wearing a face cover is compulsory. |
