Early Times Report

Poonch, Aug 27: The health department has failed on all fronts during COVID 19 and embezzled millions of funds in entire district. Sources from many areas of Mandi, Poonch, Surankot and Mendhar have said that the health department has failed in providing basic facilities to the rural people especially patients during Corona Virus. Locals said everything is not right in District Hospital Poonch and SDHs Mandi, Surankot and Mendhar. They said that although government is providing additional manpower for rural areas under NRHM and other schemes but Poonch lacks basic necessities like first aid etc.
A source informed early times that government in providing additional facilities among masses in rural areas introduced NRHM since long. In Poonch 102 sub centers are with two ANNA, one from regular and other one from NHM and 37 new sub-centers with ANM under NRHM. Moreover sufficient staff under NRHM is engaged in these rural areas but poor people are not getting any single benefit from these sub-centers.
ANMs are working on shift basis for 15 days each in these centers, sources said adding that one of the biggest reasons of failure of health department is Attachment of staff by CMO under some unknown influence. Locals have accused CMO for his failure and appealed to Lieutenant Governor of Jammu and Kashmir UT to take note of the matter and punish such negligent CMO.
The CMO didn't respond to calls from Early Times. Director Health Jammu also didn't respond to the calls.
