Overnight rain exposed the tall claims of JMC

Jammu, Aug 27: Group of Dogra youth hold a protest against the JMC and alleged that the yesterday rainfall exposed the tall claims of the JMC regarding monsoon preparedness as several areas were inundated. The protest was led by Nikhil Sharma at Jammu East and Bhanu Partap Singh Goria at Jammu West.
Addressing the locals at Jammu East, Nikhil Sharma said that most of the roads in the city are in a bad state. At several locations, the city corporation had not completed the underground drainage project. Following the incessant rain, the roads are filled with sludge. He said that Water has entered the house of locals and all the food grains and other household items are destroyed.
Nikhil alleged that The water-logging problem has aggravated over the years as civic body has failed to provide any proper drainage system.
Bhanu Partap Singh Goria said that JMC stood exposed as heavy rains caused massive waterlogging in more than dozen areas of the city.
Bhanu Partap said that the clogged roads in the Talab Tillo-Bohri area, Bhagwati Nagar, Gangyal, Narwal, Circular Road, Jewel, Canal Road leading to traffic chaos.
Bhanu Partap said that damaged roads further compounded the problem.
Waterlogging in servel areas where the government has laid underground sewerage.
Bhanu Partap said that the Waterlogging is a chronic problem and gets aggravated during rain. Despite functional sewerage costing crores of rupees, the problem persists as the sewage overflows during rain.
Partap Singh Jamwal (Poltical Activist) said that the Overnight rain in the city of temples led to waterlogging at several places, raising questions on the underground sewerage and the new drains constructed under the multi-crore Jawaharlal Nehru National Urban Renewal Mission.
Partap alleged that the most of the roads in the city are in a poor condition and need blacktopping. The potholes are major problems and get filled with rainwater.
