IGP Jammu inaugurates drug de-addiction institute

Samba, Sept 7: Mukesh Singh, IPS, Jammu- Zone, Jammu accompanied by Rohit Khajuria, Deputy Commissioner Samba and Shakti K Pathak, Samba inaugurated Drug De-addiction, Welfare, Awareness and Rehabilitation Institute (DDWARI) at Gurah Slathia, Vijaypur in presence of prominent/respectable persons, Sarpanches/Panches and locals of the area. Samba Police as a part of its commitment to comprehensively defeat the problem of drug menace among the youth has established DDWARI which is a unique of its kind and the only Drug De-addiction Centre in the district. SSP Samba in his welcome address said that drug addiction affects the capabilities and energies of the youth and it is the responsibility of all stakeholders to work together for eradicating this growing menace. The establishment of DDWARI is an initiative of Samba Police in its efforts to save the youth from the ill effects of drugs through counseling, treatment and rehabilitation. SSP Samba further thanked the Lion Club Samba, Rotary Club Samba, President Industry Association Samba/Bari Brahmana, Sarpanches/Panches and other members for their support. Speaking on the occasion, IGP Jammu Zone, Jammu lauded the role of Samba Police for such a noble cause of establishing Drug De-addiction centre in the district which will be greatly beneficial for the youths of the area who fall prey to the drug abuse. IGP urged upon the people specially the locals of the area to cooperate/support the administration in successful functioning of this institute.
During the inaugural function, President Lion Club Samba/Rotary Club Samba/President Industry Association Samba/Bari Brahmana expressed their commitment to provide every possible assistance for the smooth functioning of DWWARI and thanked the Samba Police for its efforts to get rid of drug abuse from the society. At the conclusion, Aijaz Ahmad Zargar, Addl. SP Samba presented a vote of thanks to the chief guest and other dignitaries for sparing their valuable time and grace. Later plantation drive was also carried out by the chief guest and other dignitaries within the premises of DDWARI.
