Jammu, Sept 7: Former legislator of Bhartiya Janta Party (BJP) Charanjeet Singh Khalsa has demanded to include Punjabi in the official language list of Jammu and Kashmir Union Territory. There are number of dialects spoken in this region namely Dogri, Pahari, Gojri, Poonchi, Mirpuri, Muzaffrabadi, Chubali, Pothohari etc. But the truth is that, these dialects have grown up drinking milk of Panjabi mother. This language, may be in different accents, is widely spoken in UTJK ranging from Uri, Karnah, Baramulla, Srinagar, Anantnaag, ( Kashmir valley province), more than 10 lakh DP of 1947 -Muzaffrabadi, Poonchi, Mirpuri Refugees, Jammu distt., West Pakistan refugees, locals of Rajouri , Nowshera, Akhnoor sub div., R.S.Pura, Khatri Punjabis ,Jains, Ramdaasi ,Bhagats, Batwal bros from Sialkot, Gujranwala, Rawalpindi etc. (in Jammu province) can be noticed from a smart distance , Labana , Bhatra brothers and Punjabi Ramgarjia sardars , whole of IB belt, Samba distt. Kathua distt. are having a recogoniseable strength in UT of J&K. He demanded to include Punjabi language in the list. |
