Taking administration to people’s doorsteps priority of govt: Advisor Baseer Khan

ANANTNAG, Sept 7: Advisor to Lieutenant Governor, Baseer Ahmed Khan today said that taking administration to the doorsteps of people is the priority of the government. He also said that the government is committed to take people onboard in the process of progress and development of their areas.
The Advisor said this during the public outreach programme in Bijbehara area of Anantnag district.
Scores of deputations and individuals met the Advisor, during which he listened to their grievances and demands and assured redress of the same in a time bound manner.
He said that heads of different departments have been given targets to fill the gaps in the delivery of services to the public. He further said that people’s demands are being registered and appropriate action is being taken even if it demands working in double shifts at times.
On the occasion, the Advisor was briefed by officers about the pace and progress of ongoing development projects being executed by RDD, PWD, Jal Shakti, Agriculture and other departments.
Various delegations and individuals from Bijbehara and adjoining areas demanded augmentation of supply of drinking water. The Advisor gave on the spot directions to the Chief Engineer to look into the matter and provide clean drinking water to public at an earliest.
The members of a deputation demanded sports stadium in their area, while another demanded fencing of the existing playfield in the locality. ‘ Responding to the demand, the Advisor said that building sports infrastructure and promoting sports activities across the UT is one among the main priorities of the Lieutenant Governor’s administration. He said that Bijbehara town is famous for national and international level sportspersons and the town will soon see resumption of sports activities. He also gave directions for meeting the demand projected by the deputation members.
A deputation of Sumo Drivers Association demanded macadamisation and construction of bathroom and other facilities at local Sumo stand.
Responding to the demand of establishing a press club in Anantnag projected by a delegation of journalists’ association, the Advisor assured that the same would taken on priority basis. A delegation of Numberdar Association demanded increase in their honorarium besides sought road, health, drinking water and other facilities in their respective areas.
Fruit Growers Association deputation demanded temporary operationalization of Jablipura fruit Mandi. The Advisor directed the concerned to look into the matter and conceptualize a proper plan of action keeping transparency and eligibility criteria in mind before auctioning of shops in the mandi.
A delegation from Veeri village demanded immediate starting of work on roads in their locality and upgradation of heath facilities, veterinary centre , besides ATM in their area.
Another delegation from Gadsar demanded removal of encroachments on Zirpora-Veeri road and said that the people have taken compensation but continue to occupy the road illegally. The Advisor directed the officers to look into the matter on immediate basis.
The Advisor gave a patient hearing and assured the people for redressal of all their grievances and said every genuine issue/demand would be resolved on priority. He said the grievances would be forwarded to the concerned departments for redress in a time bound manner.
