9/11/2020 12:51:54 AM
EARLY TIMES REPORT

JAMMU, Sept 10: J&K BJP UT Incharge Election Related Matters and Chairman House Committee JMC, Rajinder Sharma criticized the rampant corruption in the Jammu and Kashmir UT and said that the land mafia has been grabbing the public and state land in bright daylight since officials turned a blind eye. While addressing a press conference here today, Sharma said that corruption and land encroaching go unabated across the Jammu city since culprits have the support of some corrupt police officers, officials of the Revenue Department. He questioned the system that why aren’t the Revenue Department officials being suspended if they fail to keep a check on the land encroachment. “We never saw any Patwari, Naib Tehsildar, Tehsildar, ADC and DC being suspended even when they fail to render their official duties,” Sharma said. He said that their duties are to protect the state as well as public property from encroaching and from land grabbers not to humiliate the victims who on the occasions visit Govt offices for help. The BJP Election Incharge said that some corrupt police officers also take the side of land mafia as they run their pockets since depriving the public.
“The corrupt police officers support these encroachers and the victims never see the light of justice.” He said that the collective mis-management of the system as these officers and officials are to serve the public as public servants not to turn a blind eye towards them. Citing an example of bottlenecks in Revenue Department, Rajinder said that in Paloura area of Jammu; land at 512 Khasra No was projected as 346 Khasra Number which is totally unacceptable. “How can 512 and 346 Khasra No be at the same spot,” he questioned. The Corporator said that after taking up the matter with authorities concerned, a committee headed by Tehsildar Jammu North has been constituted to verify the facts and for demarcation of land. House Committee Chairman demanded the early completion of digitisation of land records by holding proper update of Sajra Nasab Malikan.
