SRINAGAR, Setp 10: Jammu & Kashmir continues to witness a spike in Corona Virus cases with 1,592 fresh cases being reported today. The total number of positive cases in the union territory is 49,134 and the death toll due to COVID-19 is 845.
Jammu district reported 421 cases of Corona Virus followed by Srinagar district 218 cases, Budgam district 190 cases, Kupwara district 85 cases, Poonch district 78 cases, Baramulla district 75 cases, Pulwama district 68 cases, Ganderbal district 64 cases, Bandipora district 56 cases, Anantnag district 49 cases, Rajouri district 48 cases, Kathua district 47 cases, Kishtwar district 46 cases, Samba district 35 cases, Doda district 31 cases, Udhampur and Reasi districts 28 cases each, Kulgam district 15 cases, Ramban district eight cases and Shopian district two cases.
Jammu, Srinagar, Budgam, Rajouri and Samba districts reported two fresh COVID-19 deaths while as Baramulla, Doda and Reasi districts reported one death each. So far 714 Corona Virus deaths have taken place in Kashmir valley and the number of deaths in Jammu division is 131. Srinagar has the highest number of casualties with 246 deaths.
The Jammu & Kashmir administration through the media bulletin informed that 1,592 new positive cases of novel Corona Virus (COVID-19), 770 from Jammu division and 822 from Kashmir division, have been reported today thus taking the total number of positive cases in Jammu and Kashmir to 49,134. Also 13 COVID-19 deaths have been reported; eight from Jammu division and five from Kashmir Division.
Moreover, 344 more COVID-19 patients have recovered and discharged from various hospitals, 71 from Jammu Division and 273 from Kashmir Division. Out of 49,134 positive cases, 14,074 are active positive, 34,215 have recovered and 845 have died; 131 in Jammu division and 714 in Kashmir division. Out of 11, 52,563 test results available, 11, 03,429 samples have tested negative till date.
Till date 5, 05,236 travelers and persons in contact with suspected cases have been enlisted for observation which included 44,022 persons in home quarantine including facilities operated by government, 14,074 in isolation and 52,126 under home surveillance. Besides, 3, 94,169 persons have completed their surveillance period.
The bulletin said that Srinagar has 10,980 positive cases, 1,637 active positive, 9,097 recovered, 246 deaths; Baramulla has 3,274 positive cases, 754 active positive, 2,410 recovered, 110 deaths; Budgam has 3,278 positive cases, 996 active positive, 2,214 recovered, 68 deaths; Pulwama has 3,035 positive cases, 476 active positive, 2,499 recovered, 60 deaths; Anantnag has 2,762 positive cases, 677 active positive, 2,032 recovered, 53 deaths.
“Kupwara has 2,609 positive cases, 833 active positive, 1,720 recovered, 56 deaths; Bandipora has 2,558 positive cases, 673 active positive, 1,858 recovered, 27 deaths; Kulgam has 2,041 positive cases, 109 active positive, 1,892 recovered, 40 deaths; Ganderbal has 1,933 positive cases, 515 active positive, 1,393 recovered, 25 deaths and Shopian has 1,797 positive cases, 105 active positive, 1,663 recovered, 29 deaths,” reads the bulletin.
The bulletin said that Jammu has 7,282 positive cases, 4,783 active positive, 2,424 recovered, 75 deaths; Rajouri has 1217 positive cases, 376 active positive, 827 recovered, 14 deaths; Kathua has 1,205 positive cases, 359 active positive, 835 recovered, 11 deaths; Udhampur has 1,194 positive cases, 428 active positive, 762 recovered, four deaths; Samba has 935 positive cases, 323 active positive, 605 recovered, seven deaths.
“Ramban has 736 positive cases, 83 active positive, 652 recovered, one death; Poonch has 679 positive cases, 285 active positive, 388 recovered, six deaths; Doda has 639 positive cases, 243 active positive, 387 recovered, nine deaths; Reasi has 535 positive cases, 186 active positive, 346 recovered, three deaths and Kishtwar has 445 positive cases, 233 active positive, 211 recovered, one death,” reads the bulletin. Out of 49,134 positive cases in J&K, 7,384 have been reported as travelers.
The bulletin has informed the people that, the best way to protect themselves from COVID-19 is by maintaining physical distance of at least 2 meters from others, frequently cleaning hands with an alcohol based hand sanitizer or washing them with soap and water and following good respiratory etiquette and hygiene. As a measure for social distancing in public places and workplaces wearing a face cover is compulsory.
