Will DSE Jammu act against overstaying staff in CEO offices across region?

EARLY TIMES REPORT

JAMMU, Sept 10: Although the Directorate of School Education (DSE) Jammu had made transfers of clerical staff, which was overstaying in the office recently but it seems that it had forgotten to take same action in various offices of Chief Education Officers across Jammu region where staff has been overstaying in violation of transfer policy.
Sources told Early Times that there were alleged reports across the region of flourishing corruption in most of the education offices across Jammu region and wherein it was found that overstaying staff has been encouraging corruption.
“In order to break the nexus, recently the department had taken a move by effecting transfers of clerical staff of more than two dozen but the action remained confined to the directorate office while the other offices at district level, zone level remained untouched except few,” they said.
They further said that the clerical staff sitting in various CEO offices and other offices need to be transferred to eradicate corruption, discouraging favoritism, pick and choose, providing wrong information to higher authorities etc. Although a minor transfer of clerical staff was also done in Kathua district but the entire overhauling is still pending, they informed.
“It is the first time that some of them have been transferred from their places in Jammu division. The clerical cadres, who are serving in far off areas and have completed their stay, should be brought in the city areas,” they said further adding that there are many issues which are still unaddressed like transfers of all head teachers under SSA on non-plan posts, transferring of masters who are serving in far flung areas and have completed stay, female masters, medical cases, single parent, retiring masters must be given choice postings as per transfer policy but these cases are hardly given due attention.
