Has Shah Faesal secretly joined IAS back ?
Stays away from public gaze amid speculations

Srinagar, Sept 10: More than a month has passed since Shah Faesal- the former IAS topper hogged the headlines, stating that he has quit politics and will take up his government job back. However, till date suspense continues.
On August 12, 2020, in an interview, Faesal ridiculed his own self for becoming a part of Kashmir’s political landscape and hinted at joining his old duties back. The newspapers who till last year were abuzz with his quitting the IAS and joining politics were infested with reports and op-eds of Faesal quitting politics and joining the IAS back. However, as more than a month has passed since the 38-year old decided to bid adieu to politics, there are no traces of him and no news is coming to fore about what his next move is going to be.
Speculations were meanwhile rife that he may be joining his services back as his resignation by the government hasn’t been accepted and that he has been asked to join back at an earliest. Though, Faesal hasn’t in open declared his decision whether he would go back to his old fort or not. However, he has dropped certain hints that he would be open to any such option. Meanwhile, there were questions being raised over why when more than a month has passed since the news about his non acceptance of resignation broke out, he is yet to report back to his duties.
Furthermore, there are reports making rounds that Faesal is mulling to go to studies abroad and stay there for now while applying for leave in his service.
Pertinently, Jammu and Kashmir’s then Governor Satya Pal Malik known for his flamboyant and surprising statements, on January 12, last year, urged Shah Faesal, who resigned from service as an IAS officer, to reconsider his decision to join politics. “In case he would continue his services as an IAS officer, he could serve the people of society in a better way. As far as his feelings about Kashmiris are concerned he could be posted in the region for extending his fullest support in ameliorating the poverty and creating job opportunities for the youth of the Valley so that people would be prosperous and would lead a better life,” Malik had said.
“Faesal is playing a great game- a watch and watch kind of thing. He believes that he goes into hibernation for now, he may be wiped from peoples’ memory. This is the only reason that he is staying away from the public gaze. There are even rumours that he has secretly joined back the services,” said a Srinagar based columnist privy to Faesal’s case.
