Mahila Congress holds strong protest over temple land row | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, Sept 10 : A large number of activists of Mahila Congress held a massive demonstration against brazen attempt of Jammu Municipal Corporation to claim prime land of Jammu’s historical and ancient Panj Bakhtar Mahadev Temple and floating of tenders through illegal and clandestine manner, seeking high level probe and resignation of Mayor besides restoration of title of land to temple without any clouds. Led by President Indu Pawar, Ex MLA, the mahila activists shouted slogans against BJP for hurting the religious sentiments of the people jammu. Activist of Mahila Congress demanded a high level probe to expose the real culprits behind the illegal and clandestine excercise of tender with an attempt to encroach temple’s land. Addressing the agitating activists Ms. Indu Pawar lambasted BJP leadership for its double standards as on one hand BJP leaders claimed to be champion of protecting Hindus and their sentiments but on the other hand BJP led Jammu Municipal Corporation shamelessly tried to encroach Panj Bakhtar Temple’s land. Terming the decision of the authorities to cancel tender for parking space, due to pressure of people and Congress party but is a partial victory as the conspiracy is to be exposed and title of land to fully cleared for temple . She said that there is a need for high level probe to go to the roots of this deep rooted conspiracy. The protesters charged that it was not possible that tender was floated without consultation of BJP leaders who are managing affairs of Jammu Municipal Corporation besides running the government in UT and Centre. Local Congress Carporator and newly inducted Secretary mahila Congress Ms. Ritu Choudhary, who managed the protest said that earlier similar attempts were made to encraoch land of this historical temple but were thwarted. The struggle shall continue to expose culprits as Congress party had fully supported the initiative of care taker appointed by the high court. Other who addressed the protester are Vandana Makhnotra, Suman Choudary, Reeta Kanojia & others.
