Kalakote, Sept 10: GDC Kalakote, today celebrated 100th birthday of Prof. C. R Rao, famously known as Doyen of Statistics. Speaking on this occasion, Prof. (Dr.) Romesh Kumar Gupta, Principal GDC Kalakote, offered his humble tribute to this peerless teacher, academic and institution builder. He honoured him by regarding him as a Father of Statistics. He told about various remarkable contributions made by Prof. C. R. Rao in the field of statistics. He further added, “Born as the eighth child of C.D. Naidu and A. Laxmikanthamma in the small town of Huvina Hadagali in present-day Karnataka, Prof. C. R. Rao shaped the dramatic growth of mathematical statistics in the 20th century, refining and restructuring it from its somewhat adhoc origins, making this new age possible.
