Jammu, Sept 10: Guru Nanak Educational Sewa Society, Jammu-Kashmir expressed resentment towards the callous move of the Government of India by showing the step motherly treatment with the Punjabi Language and has expressed its resentment over the exclusion of the Punjabi Language from the list of the official languages of UT of Jammu and Kashmir. Addressing a press conference Surat Singh President of the society, said that the Punjabi Language is one of the oldest languages in the world having its history back to you 300 B.C. and it stands among the most popular Languages through out the world having 23 dialects including Dogri, Pahari, Pothohari, Majhi among others. Recently the Govt of India has proposed to include five Languages as the Official Languages in J&K with English, Hindi, Urdu, Kashmiri & Dogri but has neglected the Punjabi Language from the list of Official Languages. The Punjabi Language is recognised as the Official Language in the 6th. Schedule of the Constitution of J&K and it remained the Official Language of the J&K State since last two hundred years which is evident from the official records and the sign-boards of the old Railway Stations right from Jammu Tawi to Lahore.
