Eight months on PHE Deptt fails to make Kandi Ghala filtration plant operational | | | M S Nazki Early Times Report
MENDHAR, Oct 5: Despite spending huge funds, the PHE department has failed to make operational water filter plant at Kotranka area of District Rajouri. It was in 2010 that the PHE department commissioned a filtration plant at Kotranka village to solve the water problem of almost ten panchayats of the area but the filtration plant is shut since last eight months. Having population of more than 50000 souls, the ten panchayats including Kotranka and other adjoining areas suffer a lot due to non- functioning of filtration plant even after the lapse of eight months. The locals alleged that for the last eight months the filtration plant is shut and filled with dirty water, garbage and muck adding that if operational the filtration plant caters more than fifty thousand population of over ten panchayats but due to the negligent attitude of the PHE department, the plant is still defunct. They said that that the locals of the area raised the issue several times with the district administration, higher ups of PHE department and also in front of officers in Back to Village Programme but our repeated pleas have fallen into deaf ears as no one came here to take stock of the situation of the filter plant at Malhar.
