Red alert sounded as Jaish uses Jammu borders to smuggle arms | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, Oct 5: With no letup in Pakistan sponsored terror on the Indian soil, the enemy country is now using Jammu borders to smuggle in arms and ammunition making the security agencies sound a red alert. Sources said with the Indian Army having intensified patrol along the Line of Control in Kashmir, Pakistan and its terror proxies like Jaish are targeting the International Border (IB) in Jammu region to smuggle arms. Sources said the intelligence agencies have inputs that the terror operatives of Jaish e Muhammad, believed to operating from Kashmir, are hiding along the IB in Jammu with the sole motive to smuggle arms and ammunition into the Indian soil to derail peace in the region. Sources said one such consignment of arms was recovered in a joint operation group of police and Army in SohanKhud area of Akhnoor sector on September 21. Sources said the interception of a wireless communication between the Jaish terrorists and their mentors in Pakistan, recently alerted police and other intelligence agencies in Jammu region. Sources said SSP Jammu Sridhar Patil who was aware of the inputs had kept his teams on alert to foil any nefarious designs. Sources said it was a quick action by the security forces that the consignment was recovered but that high alert has been sounded. The police have inputs that such consignments are meant for Jaish terrorists operating mostly in Kashmir. “But what has emerged as another big challenge is that some Jaish operatives are active borders in Jammu region,” said a senior official on the condition of anonymity. Sources said the police and other forces have launched a major manhunt to nab such OGWs who were assigned with the task of lifting consignment from the given spots and hand it over to terror outfits. A senior police official didn’t rule that sleeper cells of OGWs of terror outfits were active along the IB in Jammu. “Such things cannot be ruled out. But our forces are fully prepared to foil any nefarious designs,” the official said. |
