Samapa Digital Baithak enters 14th week | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, Oct 5: SaMaPa Digital Baithak series witnessed delightful renditions of Sufiana Mausiqi and Indian classical music during its 14th week enthralling the listeners. The digital baithak is being presented by the well-known cultural & educational organization of India, SaMaPa (Sopori Academy of Music And Performing Arts) under the aegis of the legendary Santoor maestro Pandit Bhajan Sopori and cultural icon Abhay Rustum Sopori running exclusively on SaMaPa’s Official YouTube Channel. The 27th session featured Hindustani Classical Vocal recital by Dhananjay Hegde from Bengaluru who presented Raga Nand with brief Aalap and two compositions in Vilambit and Drut Teentaal. A born prodigy, he is a disciple of eminent vocalist Pt. Vinayak Torvi. A recipient of SaMaPa Yuva Ratan Samman 2014, his performance had a fine blend of Kirana and Gwalior Gharana. He was accompanied by Sagar Bharathraj on Tabla, Surya Upadhyaya on harmonium and Pratima Hegde and Shreya on Tanpura. The introduction to the recital was presented by the eminent vocalist Pandit Bholanath Mishra. The 28th session featured a specially designed Sufiana Mausiqi recital, the classical music of Kashmir, by Ustad Shabir Ahmad Saznawaz. He commenced his recital with Muqam-e-Pahalvi set to Du-Yak Taal, a rhythmic cycle of 8 beats followed by Muqam-e-Gabri in Chapandaz Taal, a rhythmic cycle of 6 beats and Muqam-e-Purbi in Sehtaal, a rhythmic cycle of 12 beats. A ‘Top’ grade artist of All India Radio, Ustad Shabir Saznawaz is a well-known musician of Jammu and Kashmir belonging to the family of musicians of the Sufiana Gharana of Kashmir representing the 7th generation of Ustad Mohammad Ramzan Joo tradition. The introduction to Sufiana music was presented by the great music legend Pandit Bhajan Sopori who gave a brief history and educational explanation of development of Sufiana Mausiqi in Kashmir while explaining the system of Muqams. The Baithaks were compered by the renowned broadcaster and anchor Sadhna Shrivastav. SaMaPa is acclaimed as a cultural movement and a Cultural Bridge of Jammu & Kashmir with the rest of the country. It is credited to have created a new generation of music connoisseurs. The motto of SaMaPa is ‘Jan Jan Tak Sangeet’ (music to the masses) and this Digital Baithak is intended to create a bridge between the artist and the audiences worldwide during the present circumstances.
