SUF demands capital punishment for UP rape accused | | | Early times Report
Jammu, Oct 5: Sikh United Front J&K and an amalgam of Various Sikh Organizations J&K held a meeting under the chairmanship of S. Sudershan Singh Wazir alleged that gang rape of a 19-year-old Dalit woman in Uttar Pradesh Hathras district was “extremely” shameful and condemnable. The girl was raped, her tongue was cut and the backbone was severely broken on September 14 and she lost her life on September 29. He said the accused should be hanged at the earliest. “Whatever has happened is painful. Wazir said in Hathras episode the treatment meted out to the victim and victims family is very painful . The cremation of Hathras gang rape victim by the Uttar Pradesh Police without handing over the body to the family or without their consent and in their absence in the dead of night is raising doubts and resentment. He added that there is an impression that attempts are being made to save the accused. “Allow the family to meet whoever they want, don’t put them under lock and key. There should also be no politics on this incident. He said Hathras episode symbolized barbarism and monstrousness of criminals at its worst. With ever increasing cases of rapes, murders and kidnappings, the law and order situation in the country had fast crumbled under the BJP rule. “A feeling of insecurity had gripped the womenfolk all across the nation in view of steep rise in cases of such heinous offences against women. |
