SRINAGAR, Oct 8: The COVID-19 recovery rate in the union territory of Jammu & Kashmir reached 84.38 percent today as 1,336 virus affected patients were discharged from the different hospitals and Corona Virus centres of the union territory. In the meantime, Jammu & Kashmir reported 696 fresh cases of COVID-19 with nine more virus related deaths taking place in the past 24 hours. The total number of positive cases in the union territory is 81,793 with the total number of casualties being 1291. Srinagar district reported 186 fresh cases of Corona Virus followed by Jammu district 89 cases, Baramulla district 71 cases, Budgam district 52 cases, Poonch district 47 cases, Kathua district 43 cases, Rajouri district 34 cases, Ganderbal district 24 cases, Pulwama district 22 cases, Anantnag district 21 cases, Bandipora district 18 cases, Udhampur district 17 cases, Kupwara and Kishtwar districts 15 cases each, Samba district 11 cases, Doda district 10 cases, Ramban district eight cases, Kulgam district seven cases, Shopian district four cases and Reasi district two cases. Jammu district reported three fresh COVID-19 deaths followed by a death each in Budgam, Bandipora, Doda, Poonch, Samba and Udhampur districts. So far 882 virus deaths have occurred in Kashmir valley with the number of such deaths in Jammu division being 409. The Jammu & Kashmir administration through the media bulletin informed that 696 new positive cases of novel Corona Virus (COVID-19), 276 from Jammu division and 420 from Kashmir division, have been reported today thus taking the total number of positive cases in Jammu and Kashmir to 81,793. Also nine COVID-19 deaths have been reported; seven from Jammu division and two from Kashmir Division. Moreover, 1,336 more COVID-19 patients have recovered and discharged from various hospitals including 961 from Jammu Division and 375 from Kashmir Division. Out of 81,793 positive cases, 11,482 are active positive, 69,020 have recovered and 1,291 have died; 409 in Jammu division and 882 in Kashmir division. Out of 17, 80,540 test results available, 16, 98,747 samples have tested negative till date. Till date 6, 07,830 persons have been enlisted for observation which included 26357 persons in home quarantine including facilities operated by government, 11,482 in isolation and Unlock 5-0 : School, educational institutions to remain closed till Oct 31 Early Times Report
Jammu, Oct 8: Indicating improvement in the COVID situation in J&K, the government on Thursday declared that no district in the UT will be put in the Red category. It is also decided that coaching centres can open from October 15. According to two separate orders issued by Chief Secretary BVR Subrahmanyam, all districts of J&K, except Kishtwar will be classified as Orange Zone. Keeping in view improving COVID situation, Kishtwar has been classified as Green Zone. It is the first time after imposition of lockdown that no district in J&K has been classified as Red Zone. As per official order, only Lakhanpur containment zone on the national highway 44 with a buffer of 500 meters’ radius and Jawahar Tunnel areas on both sides have been classified as Red Zone. • No district in the Red category • Coaching centres can open from October 15. • Bar allowed to open • No passes required for any kind of movement. • Testing of air/road/rail travellers to continue. • Schools and educational institutions to remain closed till October 31st. • Mata Vaishno Devi Yatra’s limit raised to 7000. • Cinema/Theaters can function from Oct 15 with 50 % capacity. • Religious processions continue to remain prohibited. • Size of gathering in open spaces with no ceiling subject to physical distancing. • Close space gatherings limited to 50 percent capacity, subject to ceiling of 200. • Spectators allowed to sports complexes. 47,862 under home surveillance. The bulletin said that Srinagar has 16,164 positive cases, 1,776 active positive, 14,078 recovered, 310 deaths; Budgam has 5,263 positive cases, 766 active positive, 4,408 recovered, 89 deaths; Baramulla has 4,761 positive cases, 1,448 active positive, 3,187 recovered, 126 deaths; Pulwama has 4,169 positive cases, 352 active positive, 3,745 recovered, 72 deaths; Kupwara has 3,827 positive cases, 643 active positive, 3,114 recovered, 70 deaths. “Anantnag has 3,707 positive cases, 313 active positive, 3,325 recovered, 69 deaths; Bandipora has 3,646 positive cases, 398 active positive, 3,207 recovered, 41 deaths; Ganderbal has 3,075 positive cases, 265 active positive, 2,780 recovered, 30 deaths; Kulgam has 2,317 positive cases, 86 active positive, 2,188 recovered, 43 deaths and Shopian has 2,079 positive cases, 151 active positive, 1,896 recovered, 32 deaths,” reads the bulletin. The bulletin said that Jammu has 14,950 positive cases, 1,610 active positive, 13,128 recovered, 212 deaths; Rajouri has 2,921 positive cases, 527 active positive, 2,355 recovered, 39 deaths; Udhampur has 2,443 positive cases, 312 active positive, 2,109 recovered, 22 deaths; Doda has 2,371 positive cases, 829 active positive, 1,504 recovered, 38 deaths; Kathua has 2,218 positive cases, 139 active positive, 2,051 recovered, 28 deaths. “Poonch has 1,957 positive cases, 826 active positive, 1,113 recovered, 18 deaths; Samba has 1,926 positive cases, 471 active positive, 1,431 recovered, 24 deaths; Kishtwar has 1,471 positive cases, 260 active positive, 1,200 recovered, 11 deaths; Ramban has 1,430 positive cases, 116 active positive, 1,303 recovered, 11 deaths and Reasi has 1,098 positive cases, 194 active positive, 898 recovered, six deaths,” reads the bulletin. Out of 81,793 positive cases in J&K, 9,076 have been reported as travelers. The bulletin has informed the people that, the best way to protect themselves from COVID-19 is by maintaining physical distance of at least two meters from others, frequently cleaning hands with an alcohol based hand sanitizer or washing them with soap and water and following good respiratory etiquette and hygiene. As a measure for social distancing in public places and workplaces wearing a face cover is compulsory.
