Act against fake colleges
11/7/2020 12:46:21 AM
Paramedical institutes swindling crores and issuing fake degrees to the students have once again brought to fore how education was commercialized in the erstwhile J&K State.
It’s unfortunate the owners of such institutions played with the careers of the students and at the end left them in lurch by awarding them invalid certificates.
During the erstwhile political regimes in Jammu and Kashmir many educational institutions had cropped up that were not recognized.
Many such colleges were owned by the people who were well connected politically and enjoyed the patronage of the people in power. Despite students staging protests and demanding action against these institutions these fake colleges were allowed to function.
Now, the times have changed, Jammu and Kashmir has been turned into a Union Territory and the system has become more vibrant.
People are hoping that the fake institutions that have looted state exchequer will be held accountable and the people who have played with the careers of young boys and girls would be brought to book.
Despite most of the universities shifting to online mode and digitizing records it’s strange that some institutions are still busy in taking the students for a ride by promising them moon and stars but the fact is that these institutions are not even registered.
The most amazing part is that a few institutions in J&K still claim to be affiliated with the universities that have been black listed by the government and the degrees awarded by these varsities are of no use.
After J&K’s transition into a Union Territory people are hoping that the past practices would end. The people of Jammu and Kashmir deserve a better deal as the political interference has ended.
Education system has to be streamlined so that the youth are not hoodwinked and left in lurch. Many things have changed during the past few months and everyone is exuding hope that things will become better after the COVID-19 pandemic ends.
The administration has become more responsive and people are being heard but still a lot needs to be done.
Loopholes have to be plugged in to ensure that the derailed system is put back on the rails.
There are many other big scandals which need to be investigated and the people who have duped a common man or the government are shown their worth.
No one is above the law and law should be allowed to take its course.
