SRINAGAR, Nov 6: The total number of positive cases in the union territory of Jammu & Kashmir reached 97,805 as 581 new cases of virus were reported today. The death toll due to the virus reached 1,523 following six fresh deaths.
Srinagar district reported 169 fresh cases of Corona Virus followed by Jammu district 92 cases, Baramulla district 58 cases, Kupwara district 37 cases, Budgam district 29 cases, Ramban district 23 cases, Udhampur district 22 cases, Reasi district 21 cases, Ganderbal and Kishtwar districts 20 cases each, Pulwama district 13 cases, Anantnag and Rajouri districts 12 cases each, Doda district 11 cases, Samba district 10 cases, Bandipora and Kathua districts nine cases each, Poonch district eight cases, Shopian district four cases and Kulgam district two cases.
Srinagar district reported three fresh COVID-19 deaths in past 24 hours while as a death each was reported from Ganderbal, Kathua and Ramban districts. So far 1,009 virus related deaths have occurred in the Kashmir valley while as in Jammu division the number of such deaths is 514.
The Jammu & Kashmir administration through the media bulletin informed that 581 new positive cases of novel Corona Virus (COVID-19), 228 from Jammu division and 353 from Kashmir division, have been reported today thus taking the total number of positive cases in Jammu and Kashmir to 97,805. Also six COVID-19 deaths have been reported; two from Jammu division and four from Kashmir Division.
Moreover, 632 more COVID-19 patients have recovered and discharged from various hospitals including 293 from Jammu Division and 339 from Kashmir Division. Out of 97,805 positive cases, 5,745 are active positive, 90,537 have recovered and 1,523 have died; 514 in Jammu division and 1009 in Kashmir division.
Out of 24, 39,196 test results available, 23, 41,391 samples have tested negative till date. Till date 6, 64,883 persons have been enlisted for observation which included 15,401 persons in home quarantine including facilities operated by government, 5,745 in isolation and 43,559 in home surveillance. Besides, 5, 98,655 persons have completed their surveillance period.
The bulletin said that Srinagar has 20,159 positive cases, 1,374 active positive, 18,412 recovered, 373 deaths; Baramulla has 6,407 positive cases, 1,182 active positive, 5,078 recovered, 147 deaths; Budgam has 6,175 positive cases, 264 active positive, 5,817 recovered, 94 deaths; Pulwama has 4,745 positive cases, 175 active positive, 4,487 recovered, 83 deaths; Kupwara has 4,613 positive cases, 426 active positive, 4,114 recovered, 73 deaths.
“Anantnag has 4,286 positive cases, 181 active positive, 4,030 recovered, 75 deaths; Bandipora has 4,111 positive cases, 172 active positive, 3,893 recovered, 46 deaths; Ganderbal has 3,666 positive cases, 229 active positive, 3,402 recovered, 35 deaths; Kulgam has 2,506 positive cases, 85 active positive, 2,373 recovered, 48 deaths and Shopian has 2,249 positive cases, 100 active positive, 2,114 recovered, 35 deaths,” reads the bulletin.
The bulletin said that Jammu has 18,179 positive cases, 655 active positive, 17,259 recovered, 265 deaths; Rajouri has 3,244 positive cases, 82 active positive, 3,114 recovered, 48 deaths; Udhampur has 2,786 positive cases, 156 active positive, 2,598 recovered, 32 deaths; Doda has 2,701 positive cases, 95 active positive, 2,558 recovered, 48 deaths; Kathua has 2,498 positive cases, 53 active positive, 2,412 recovered, 33 deaths.
“Poonch has 2,283 positive cases, 101 active positive, 2,160 recovered, 22 deaths; Samba has 2,207 positive cases, 74 active positive, 2,108 recovered, 25 deaths; Kishtwar has 2,006 positive cases, 133 active positive, 1,858 recovered, 15 deaths; Ramban has 1,661 positive cases, 91 active positive, 1,552 recovered, 18 deaths and Reasi has 1,323 positive cases, 117 active positive, 1,198 recovered, eight deaths,” reads the bulletin. Out of 97,805 positive cases in J&K, 9,946 have been reported as travelers.
The bulletin has informed the people that, the best way to protect themselves from COVID-19 is by maintaining physical distance of at least two meters from others, frequently cleaning hands with an alcohol based hand sanitizer or washing them with soap and water and following good respiratory etiquette and hygiene. As a measure for social distancing in public places and workplaces wearing a face cover is compulsory.
