Jammu, Nov 6: On the occasion of 5th National Ayurveda Day 2020, National Ayurveda Students and Youth Association, a subsidiary of Vigyan Bharti organized a webinar ‘Ayurvidya-2020- integrating Ayurveda into Educational Curriculum”. The main agenda of the webinar was to discuss the opportunities and challenges of introducing Ayurveda into the school curriculum. The webinar was conducted in association with Directorate of School Education Jammu. Prof. Kuldeep Raj Kohli, Director AYUSH Maharashtra, Anuradha Gupta, KAS Director School Education Jammu, Dr. Sandeep Rai, a renowned Ayurveda Expert from Lucknow, Dr. Prashant Tiwari, President NASYA and Dr. Pooja Kohli, National General Secretary NASYA spoke in the webinar. The discussion was moderated by Dr. Arun Gupta. The webinar was attended by teaching fraternity, educationists, Ayurveda practitioners and Ayurveda students. Prof. Kohli highlighted the selective introduction of elements of Ayurveda like Dincharya, Ritucharya, Sadvruta, Medicinal Plants into the curriculum and suggested that Teachers training into Ayurveda Module as a tool for rational implementation of the idea of introducing Ayurveda into school education. Gupta presented a detailed account of the schemes and programs pertinent to the Ayurveda which are being implemented by DSEJ. She also showed her keen interest in introducing Ayurveda in schools for spreading Ayurveda into every household. Dr. Rai discussed how reviving the traditional health wisdom of Ayurveda will help in reducing the incidence and prevalence of the diseases. He also emphasized that preventive and promotive aspects of Ayurveda must be realized by incorporating Ayurveda into textbooks. Dr. Pooja Kohli, spoke about the importance of schools as the nodes of implementation of many health programs of Government of India and talked about the vision and mission of NASYA to work with the education department for spreading the lessons of Healthy living through Ayurveda to every household with by catching them (students and children) young. She also talked about challenges which can be overcome with the administrative will and motivation to make Ayurveda, the mainstream health care system of the India. |
