Early Times Report

Jammu, Nov 18: A cop allegedly sodomised his stepson at a gun point and escaped action despite a complaint lodged by the victim.
A 15-year old boy has quit school to avoid further exploitation by his stepfather, a policeman posted in IRP deployed at Jammu. “He was exploiting me for a long time. I kept silent, as I was not able to share my suffering with anyone. One day my grandmother caught him red handed while exploiting me, she came for my rescue, but he pointed his gun at her and she could not retaliate”, the victim told the media, seeking justice.
“We lodged a complaint on December 13, 2019 at Police Station Nagrota, but Police did not arrest him and the case was closed 17 days after we filed the complaint”, he said, adding that meanwhile, aggrieved over Police inaction, the victim also knocked the door of National Human Rights commission (NHRC), where case is still pending.
“With the help of my uncle I could raise my voice and the NHRC has sought a report from J&K Police into the case. Meanwhile, we also approached a local court and the court also expressed displeasure over biased approach of Police in handling the case and directed the Police to reinvestigate it”, he said.
Station House Officer Nagrota Mohammad Showket when contacted said that Police handled the case professionally and there was no doubt of even an iota of doubt on the part of Police investigation. “A medical board conducted a check-up of the victim boy and the case was closed on the basis of recommendations made by the board”, he said, adding that the accused was also summoned by the police for investigation, but nothing was found in the case.
