Health sector in jeopardy in Budgam | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT
SRINAGAR, Nov 27: Accusing health sector of being messed up across Kashmir valley particularly in district Budgam , Jammu & Kashmir RTI Movement has said that authorities at helm have failed to conduct certificate courses, workshops and seminars for doctors to manage the cardiac patients that are brought to District and Sub District hospitals (SDH’s) in rural areas of Kashmir. Chairman RTI Movement Dr Raja Muzaffar Bhat in a statement said that the Government needs to conduct certificate courses and workshops for Medical Officers working in J&K Health Department as instances of heart attacks are on rise . “One fails to understand why all the heart attack patients (myocardial infarction) are always referred to SHMHS or SKIMS by the doctors available on night shift at SDHs or even at district hospitals. In Budgam there are several doctors who are either DM in Cardiology or MD with good experience in treating heart attack patients , why are not these doctors posted in SDHs on rotational basis and then given an off for 1 or 2 days ? ‘’ Dr Raja Muzaffar said. “Most of the patients miss the golden hour in transit and die on the way while being referred to Srinagar. Mudassir Ali senior journalist is one such classic example of medical mismanagement as he could not be managed at SDH Charar e Sharief during the dead of night when he suffered a heart attack. SDH Chadoora and Charar e Sharief were managed well several years back but for the last 4 to 5 years these hospitals are not functioning properly and authorities need to take the issue seriously.
