Nagrota encounter Indian Army, Jammu police masterstroke
11/28/2020 12:52:00 AM

Early Times Report

Jammu, Nov 27: The recent killing of four Jaish-e-Mohammad (JeM) terrorists near Ban Toll Plaza on Jammu-Srinagar National Highway here was masterstroke by the Indian Army and the Jammu and Kashmir Police against Pakistan sponsored terror.
Sources said the encounter was meticulously planned by the police, particularly Jammu police chief Sridhar Patil, who had been keeping track of the movement of the terrorists, who had infiltrated into Indian territory from Sambha border.
Sources said while the truck was moving towards Nagrota, the police had already laid the ambush in league with the Indian Army and other security forces including the paramilitary Central Reserve Police Force.
Sources said special bunkers were positioned along the Ban Toll Plaza to neutralize the terrorists and to avoid any possible damage to public life or property in the area.
Sources said the intelligence grid as established by the SSP in the Jammu district played the main role of letting cops know about the exact details of the infiltration and also about the track they had chosen for movement towards Kashmir.
Source said around an hour before the encounter broke out, the Jammu Police got inputs about the movement of the suspect truck and that the trap was instantly laid.
It was reliably learnt the senior officials of the police including the Inspector General of Police Jammu Mukesh Singh and SSP Jammu rushed to the spot at midnight to personally monitor the operation.
A retired Army official told Early Times that the operation was “brilliantly executed with things related to firepower much in place from the side of Army.”
“What one can see from the video footage is that even the rockets were positioned appropriately to target the enemies,” the veteran said.
It is pertinent to mention that on November 19, the security forces foiled Pakistan's sinister plot of carrying out Pulwama like attack of high magnitude during ongoing District Development Council (DDC) elections in Jammu and Kashmir.
Following concrete intelligence inputs about the infiltration of terrorists, the Special Operation Group of JKP stopped the truck for checking at Ban Toll Plaza, Nagrota.
While security force personnel were heading towards truck for checking, terrorists who were hiding inside opened indiscriminate fire which was effectively retaliated by joint teams of SOG and CRPF. In the ensuing firefight, four terrorists were killed.
