JAMMU, Dec 6: An online Tree Talk session was organized with MSc students of Botany, Central University (CU) of Kerala to mark World Soil Day 2020. Tree Talk organized events in all nook & corners in all districts of J&K to spread mass awareness on indigenous knowledge linked to tree and associated biodiversity, documenting interesting inputs in Dogri, Kashmiri, Gojri, Bhaderwahi, Ladakhi, Hindi, Sanskrit, Urdu, Punjabi, motivating younger generation to emulate elders wisdom for knowing uniqueness of culture, heritage, utilization practices, community conservation practiced by way of sacred groves ,sacred water bodies around .Not knowing neighborhood trees ,bushes, medicinal plants, edible trees, floral architecture means Tree plant blindness which need to be minimized by regular walks through woods, talking about trees, knowing their local names, utilizing plant based products, medicines for the overall security of human health and ensure sustenance supply of bio-resources. Tree Talk during its varied community interactions has documented useful data which Biodiversity Management Committees will find useful for inclusion in the mandatory People's Biodiversity Register, an exercise underway in J&K.
