DDCs elections: Before results BJP approaches ‘potential’ Independents including party’s rebels | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT
Jammu, Dec 20: Much before results of the District Development Councils (DDCs) elections, BJP has already opened a channel of communications with some Independent candidates including some rebels of the party. Reliable sources told Early Times that after completion of the election process on Saturday evening, some BJP leaders have approached Independents, who have potential to emerge winners in the elections. “BJP is going to adopt the policy of Block Development Councils (BDCs) elections when party had lured many BDCs chairpersons who had won elections as Independent candidates”, sources said and added that party leaders have already approached some BJP rebels contesting DDCs elections as Independents. Sources said that BJP leaders have assured these rebels that they would be re-inducted in the party in case they emerged victorious in the elections. “Party leaders have approached over 20 such rebels who have potential to win elections”, sources said. As reported earlier, BJP leadership was of the view that after the elections, these rebels would help the party to capture DDCs in some areas so party had not taken action against those who have potential to win the elections. Many BJP leaders, including some office-bearers, had contested the DDCs elections as rebels against the official nominees in different parts of Jammu. Some Mandal and district committees had openly supported rebel candidates in many areas. While some BJP leaders have themselves contested elections against official party candidates, some of them have fielded their family members as rebels. |
